Senior Support Programmer Role
We are seeking two experienced Senior Mainframe Support Programmers (Natural/Adabas and/or IDMS/ADSO/COBOL) to join our team in Adelaide.
Job Description
This is a 2-year contract position, requiring full Australian work rights and willingness to live and work in Adelaide, South Australia.
* As a Senior Mainframe Developer, you will plan, coordinate, and deliver expert technical systems analysis, design, development, and maintenance functions to ensure application quality.
* You will work on new projects and BAU activities, including enhancements of existing applications or the development/configuration of complex new systems.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Planning, coordinating, and delivering expert data analysis, design, and modelling services for complex/business-critical applications.
* Ensuring application development and enhancement quality by planning, coordinating, and conducting specialist development tasks.
* Providing specialist advice on analysis, design, database access, programming, testing, writing user procedures, or other documentation.
* Performing high-level systems analysis, design, and programming functions for critical applications.
* Quality reviewing specifications.
Additional Responsibilities
You will also be responsible for:
* Resolving complex and critical incidents/outages, including diagnosing issues and implementing workarounds that may impact service-wide operations.
* Coordinating, administering, and maintaining existing applications and associated services throughout their life cycle.
* Vendor liaison and communication.
* Providing guidance and support to junior members of the team.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* 6+ years of recent and significant experience as a maintenance analyst/programmer working in a current mainframe Natural/Adabas or IDMS/ADSO/COBOL environment.
* 2nd and 3rd-level support for mainframe, backend systems, middleware, and web-based presentation layers.
* Experience with multiple relevant programming languages, development tools/environments, and methodologies, including Java/J2EE, Web service integration, Oracle Fusion Middleware Platform, UML/RUP, IDMS/ADSO/COBOL, Eclipse, JDeveloper, SOAP, UI, Maven, ADABAS/NATURAL, SQL, relational databases, networks, OS, clustering, load balancing, logging, auditing, and ITIL service management processes.
* Extensive SQL and relational database experience, skilled in networks, OS, clustering, load balancing, logging, and auditing, and relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.
* Sound verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical ideas clearly.
