Working arrangements: Candidates must work on-site at the Departments Canberra office, 40 hours per week

Length of contract: 12 months

Contract extensions: 2x 12 months

Security clearance: Must have a current and active Positive Vetting clearance

Rates: $130 - $160 per hour (inc. super)

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) promotes and protects Australia’s international interests to support our security and prosperity. DFAT collaborates with international partners and other countries to tackle global challenges, increase trade and investment opportunities, protect international rules, keep our region stable and help Australians overseas. DFAT manages Australia’s international presence – a network of over 120 embassies, high commissions, consulates-general and representative offices across five continents – and we have over 6,000 staff across Australia and overseas.

The Information Management and Technology Division (IMD) within DFAT is a client service driven division, dedicated to delivering high quality, fit-for-purpose ICT solutions to DFAT’s global workforce. The division includes six branches: Business Solutions Branch (BSB), Infrastructure & Operational Support Branch (ISB), Cyber Security, Cloud and Networks Branch (CRB), Data and Service Delivery Governance (DAB), Global Modernisation Branch (IGB) and ICT Strategy and Investment Management Branch (IPB). The division delivers complex, high value and high-risk ICT programs and multi-year digital transformation initiatives.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade seeks multiple TSPV or TSPA cleared ICT Project Managers for the delivery of projects within a program of work in the ICT Division. The engagement of these resources are to fill immediate gaps as well as future projects identified in the forward plan of work. The successful candidate will report to a program manager and independently manage all facets of a small set of projects. The Project Manager will plan and manage the delivery of projects including but not limited to procurement, management of resources, co-ordination and communication of stakeholders, and reporting and governance.

The key positions responsibilities are:

* Manage the delivery of a small set of projects using the department’s project management methodologies.
* Engage with stakeholders, including senior executives, to plan and manage projects successfully.
* Ensure that the project delivers in alignment with the stated strategic directives.
* Undertake project governance, including, but not limited to:
* - project initiation, transition to BAU and closure,
* - scope, schedule, and delivery timeframe management,
* - reporting and presenting to Senior Executives, Program/Project Boards, and other governance bodies,
* - budget and financial management and reporting, and
* - active management of risks and issues.
* Experience working with senior executives to shape outcomes and achieve traction and deliver complex ICT projects, along with an ability to: monitor, track and report on the status of deliverables, ensure schedules, cost and quality metrics are in line with agreed artefacts. Track, monitor and report against baselined financials. Identify and resolve issues, and demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities, while maintaining sharp attention to detail
* Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills: ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with a range of stakeholders. Build and maintain effective working relationships with technical professionals, team members and stakeholders.
* Ability to establish an agreed set of priorities, frameworks, and methodologies to deliver quality outcomes: ensure tools, templates and processes are adhered to. Experience delivering projects in various methodologies (Prince2, MSP, Agile, SAFe, Hybrid). Assisting with project related departmental financial processes.
