About the role
Our Boy Roy is seeking an enthusiastic and energised Head Chef to lead our kitchen at our Clarence Park location, SA. This is a full‐time position offering a unique opportunity to take charge of a dynamic kitchen environment, including edible garden and help shape the breakfast/brunch/lunch/sandwich experience of not only our guests, but to reshape brunch/sandos as we know it. As Head Chef, you'll be working closely with ownership and key role within leadership team. You'll be responsible for menu development, kitchen operations, food quality standards, and team leadership, playing a crucial role in delivering exceptional, fun, and delicious food that defines Our Boy Roy's reputation.
Key responsibilities
Plan, develop and execute innovative menus that reflect Our Boy Roy's vision and brand, as well as meet guest expectations.
Manage kitchen inventory, ordering and cost control to maintain profitability without compromising quality.
Lead, train, supervise and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a culture of fun, strong communication, safety and continuous improvement.
Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene and health regulations.
Collaborate with front‐of‐house staff and management to ensure seamless service delivery.
Monitor food quality and consistency across all dishes and service periods.
Respond to management and guest feedback and adapt offerings accordingly.
Manage COGS and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency.
What we're looking for
Minimum 5+ years of professional cooking experience, with experience as a Head Chef or senior kitchen leadership role and wishing to step up.
Strong culinary knowledge and expertise in a range of cooking techniques and cuisines.
Proven experience of menu planning, recipe development and food cost management.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop kitchen teams.
Comprehensive knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and relevant legislation.
Strong organisational and time management abilities, particularly in fast‐paced kitchen environments.
Creative flair and passion for delivering high‐quality, innovative food.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for the team environment.
Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure during busy service periods.
Strong ability to liaise with all key stakeholders to ensure the wider team is always working as one, problem solving & celebrating wins together.
