About the Role:
The Content Designer plays a pivotal role in overseeing the optimisation and curation of website content to create confident, user-centred digital experiences, aligned with Curtin's Digital Experience Strategy and Content strategy.
This role is responsible for ensuring that the content on the Curtin website is purposeful and effective in supporting prospective students as they explore their options, build understanding and navigate their interactions with Curtin University; helping users achieve their goals confidently, leading to higher user satisfaction, engagement, and improved recruitment outcomes.
Working closely with the UX Manager and the Digital Experience team, the Content Designer collaborates with teams across University Marketing and other key stakeholders, developing a deep knowledge of Curtin's products, processes and audience to inform their work.
You will use user research, analytics and UX principles to improve key journeys and enrich digital content across Curtin's websites, creating experiences that empower users to progress with confidence, whether they are exploring possibilities, comparing options or completing key actions.
This role requires a unique blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and an in-depth understanding of user behaviour and UX principles to drive website conversions and support critical business outcomes.
This role sits within our Digital Experience team, where we design and deliver digital experiences that turn ambition into opportunity – helping future students understand their options, make confident choices and take meaningful steps toward study, growth and impact.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Design and write UX content:Design and write clear, inclusive and accessible content across Curtin's website, in line with our Digital Experience Guidelines that help users understand their options and complete key tasks.
* Conduct user research and journey mapping:Use tools such as Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand and map users' movements through Curtin's digital journeys and content pathways. Identify gaps, friction points and duplication, and define success measures for content changes.
* Design and improve content structure and findability:Design clear content hierarchies, labels and navigation cues that support scanning and decision-making. Review the information architecture to identify opportunities to consolidate, simplify or retire content, reducing duplication and improving clarity.
* Work with search and marketing teams to improve discoverability: use search intent and user language to inform content design decisions.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams:Work closely with subject matter experts, UI/UX designers, developers, marketing teams and content creators across discovery, design and delivery to ensure content is effectively integrated with design and functionality.
* Maintain content standards and governance:Apply and improve Curtin's content standards, patterns and tone of voice across the CMS and related digital systems. Ensure UX content follows established guidelines and best practices for creation and maintenance, while supporting consistent content quality.
Who we are looking for/Selection Criteria:
* A relevant degree and considerable relevant experience; or extensive experience in a field related to content design or UX writing.
* Ability to articulate and demonstrate how content decisions improved a digital experience (for example, clarity, completion, findability or conversion), either through examples of work or discussion during the selection process.
* Skilled writing and editing expertise with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling content for diverse audiences and contexts; balancing user needs with style guides, tone of voice and content patterns.
* Experience working with cross-functional teams (design, product, tech, marketing SMEs).
* Confidence using analytics, behaviour and search insight tools to inform content decisions (for example, GA4, Google Search Console, Microsoft Clarity, Semrush or similar).
* Good eye for detail and design across a range of formats and digital platforms.
* Working knowledge of search intent and on-page optimisation principles, with the ability to apply these in collaboration with marketing and analytics teams to support content structure, clarity and discoverability.
* Experience working within content management systems, applying content standards, structure and governance.
