Sydney Anglican Services (SAS) is seeking a dynamic and faithful leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer. Following the planned departure of its long-standing CEO, this is a rare opportunity to lead a well-established organisation providing critical services to the Diocese of Sydney and affiliated Anglican entities.
About the Organisation
SAS exists to serve Anglican organisations across the Sydney Diocese by providing shared corporate services that enable mission and ministry to flourish. With responsibility for key portfolios such as Corporate Governance, Finance, IT, Legal, HR, Facilities, and Parish Services, SAS is a trusted delivery partner for a broad network of parishes, and diocesan agencies.
Employing approximately 100 staff and with revenue of $22 million, SAS operates in close alignment with Diocesan values and governance structures, maintaining strong relationships with Standing Committee, Synod, and related bodies. It is a values-driven organisation committed to excellence, stewardship, and supporting Gospel work.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board, the CEO leads the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of SAS, ensuring the organisation delivers high-quality, sustainable services to its clients. This includes oversight of shared service functions, governance and risk, financial stewardship, HR, technology, and staff leadership. The CEO also plays a key advisory and relational role within the broader Diocese.
This is a role for a relational, hands-on leader who is able to balance faith-based alignment with contemporary service delivery and operational excellence.
Key areas of accountability include:
* Leading a senior executive team across governance, finance, HR, Legal, IT, and parish and corporate services
* Ensuring the provision of efficient and customer-focused shared services across the network
* Advising and reporting to the Board and key governance bodies (Standing Committee, Synod)
* Leading financial sustainability, risk management, policy compliance, and operational innovation
* Representing SAS across diocesan relationships and fostering a healthy, values-aligned workplace culture
About You
You are a strategic and relational executive with a track record of leading in complex organisational settings. You bring strength in corporate services, governance, and operations, combined with a deep alignment to Christian faith and a desire to serve the mission of the Church.
The ideal candidate will bring:
* A personal, active Christian faith and alignment with the values, ethos and theology of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney
* Executive leadership experience in corporate services, shared services, or a complex service-delivery context
* Strong financial acumen and commercial judgement
* Experience working within a values-based, faith-informed, or not-for-profit environment
* Capacity to advise and engage at Board and governance level
* A collaborative and servant-hearted leadership style
Location
The role is based in Sydney, with flexibility and in-person engagement required with SAS client and Diocesan stakeholders.
