The role is part of Kingston University's Education Liaison and Outreach team.
Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic Saturday Club Tutors to lead the season of the Science & Engineering Saturday Club for young people aged at our Penrhyn Road Campus.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and deliver creative sessions spanning a range of Science and Engineering topics for young people aged, ensuring the needs of the group are met.
Ensure a safe, non-biased and accessible environment is maintained for club members.
Work with the STEM Outreach Officer to plan and deliver off-site trips for the group.
Welcome young people aged to the workshops and provide support and encouragement for them to take part in activities.
Manage resources appropriately, provide session plans and liaise with the STEM Outreach Adviser to prepare for sessions in a timely manner.
Comply with the University's policies on health and safety and child protection and undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Essential Qualifications
An undergraduate degree in a Science or Engineering related subject.
Experience of facilitating activities with young people.
Evidence of inclusive and engaging teaching practice.
Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience of teaching science or design technology at Secondary school.
Postgraduate qualification in a science or engineering field.
Experience of working with young people with additional needs.
Experience of leading or supporting field trips / off-site excursions.
Additional Information
Standard Kingston rates of pay apply and currently start at: £
(including London Weighting, not including holiday pay) for both teaching and non-teaching hours.
One lecturing hour includes preparation, delivery, follow up and related administration and attracts a multiplier of 2.25 increasing the hourly rate to £
Non-teaching hours include tutorials, meetings, induction and invigilation.
This is a fractional appointment until 31 July.
