Offer Description

* Based in College of Education, Behavioural and Social Sciences
* Full-time, fixed term position available up to 36 months
* Salary Range: $81,293 - $109,307 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

We are seeking a Research Fellow with experience in machine learning research and development, particularly with a specialisation in such areas as: digital forensics, computer vision, biometrics (face or voice recognition, etc.) and natural language processing.

Workthat matters

The Research Fellow will join a multi-institutional team of researchers involved in an ARC Linkage Project (LP240200944) that will deliver new digital forensic capabilities for police – particularly in the context of enhancing child sexual abuse investigations. This work will be delivered in partnership with South Australia Police, the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, and Deakin University. About the Australian Cybercrime Observatory

The Australian Cybercrime Observatory is an interdisciplinary team of researchers and based at Adelaide University and the Australian National University, with partners around the world. We are involved in a wide range of research projects that seek to understand why individuals engage in cybercrime, and develop tools to prevent, detect and investigate cybercrimes. Our work aims to inform public policy and promote safe digital environment.

Experience

To join our community and thrive in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

* A PhD or master's degree (or commensurate qualification/research experience) in Computer Science, Data Science, Forensic Science, Electrical Engineering, Criminology or related area.
* A record of producing research outputs, including publications, commensurate to opportunity.
* Demonstrated proficiency in Python, including data handling and backend development.
* Demonstrated experience developing applications interfacing with machine learning libraries like PyTorch or ONNX.
* Demonstrated experience working with large-scale data processing and deployment (local and cloud) including SQL database technologies.
