Job Description: Groundskeeper / Maintenance Worker at Yuruga Nursery
Reports to: Nursery Manager, Administration and Production Supervisors
• To work as a member of the nursery team to ensure that all elements of the nursery grounds, facilities and equipment are well maintained and fully operational with nursery hygiene and workplace health and safety as the upmost priority.
Key Responsibilities
Gardens and property
Ensure that nursery sites are well maintained.
1. Duties to include:
Mowing lawns and grassed areas
Trimming and pruning trees, shrubs, hedges etc.
Gathering and removing litter and debris
Provide proper upkeep of paths, driveways, carpark, fences etc.
Spraying and control of weeds around the nursery site, especially production areas.
Spraying for pest and diseases in nursery crops as required
Buildings and Maintenance (Offices, Laboratory, Production areas, Greenhouses, Toilet blocks)
* Perform minor repairs as necessary
* Arrange external tradespeople to undertake necessary repairs and maintenance as required
* Implement preventative maintenance measures
* Prioritise job lists, communicating problems and maintenance issues to management in a timely manner
Irrigation
Daily irrigation checks including sprinklers, tanks, chlorinators, pumps, hoses etc. and conduct repairs where required in a prioritised manner.
Weekly filter checks and cleaning
Maintenance of irrigation systems and pumps to enquire running with minimum downtime
Workshop, equipment & machinery
Ensure equipment and machinery are in a serviceable and safe operating condition
Maintain the workshop in an organised and tidy condition, keep track of essential spare parts for irrigation and essential equipment / machinery.
Health and Safety
• Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery and grounds
• Prioritise job list with health and safety implications in mind and of upmost importance.
• Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Operate the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness when working in the Tissue Culture La
General
• Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Management Team.

Deliveries and pickup from town as instructed
Qualifications & experience:
Relevant prior experience essential
Forklift licence or ability to obtain licence essential
Trade certificate an advantage
Chemcert or ability to obtain Chemcert essential
