Heavy Vehicle Mechanic – WOR. An exciting opportunity has become available in our Townsville Workshop to join our growing team. This role would suit an introspective and analytical individual who is task-oriented and focused on critical and creative problem-solving with a technical mindset. Our workshops are the core of our network, playing a pivotal role in ensuring our vehicles operate safely across Australia.
What you'll be doing
Routine Maintenance
: Conduct regular maintenance checks and servicing. Ensure fleet remains in compliance with standards.
Diagnostics
: Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues with engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems, including reading and interpreting error codes and symptoms.
Repairs
: Perform repairs on mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, and suspension systems, by replacing faulty parts or components.
Safety Inspections
: Conduct safety inspections to ensure all systems and components meet safety standards and regulations, including brakes, lights, and other critical systems.
Documentation
: Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
Operational Interaction
: Communicate with operational leaders and, occasionally, drivers to ensure work is completed within timelines.
Compliance
: Ensure all repairs and maintenance work comply with industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and NHVR regulations.
Teamwork
: Join a large collaborative and driven team to excel. Support Apprentices in their journey by providing training and support while allowing them to be hands-on.

Qualifications
The successful candidate requires a systematic, patient approach with a strong focus on creativity and technical expertise to ensure high-quality results.
Hold a valid qualification for the repair and maintenance of heavy commercial vehicles (Certificate III in HV Mechanical Technology)
Proof of experience within the heavy diesel repair industry
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to plan workload and parts requirements
Commitment to safety and quality assurance policies
