Role Overview
The Facilities Maintenance Officer is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of Supported Independent Living homes and selected client residences. This role ensures properties are safe, clean, and well-maintained, supporting the comfort and wellbeing of clients and staff. The position involves a wide range of tasks, including minor repairs, cleaning, gardening, gutter cleaning, and other property-related duties.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform general property maintenance across SIL homes and selected in-home client locations:
· Conduct minor repairs including basic plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks.
· washing, window cleaning, and external tidy-up
· Maintain gardens, lawns, and outdoor areas including mowing, pruning, and weeding:
· Clean and clear gutters and drains as required:
· Identify and report maintenance issues that require specialised trades or escalated action:
· Ensure all work is completed safely, promptly, and to a high standard, with minimal disruption to residents and clients.
· Respond to maintenance requests and service tickets in a timely and professional manner.
· Conduct regular inspections of SIL homes to ensure ongoing property standards and compliance.
· Maintain tools and equipment in safe and working condition:
· Comply with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures
· Engage respectfully with clients, staff, and other stakeholders while on-site:.
· Perform other duties as directed by managers within your scope of practice
Experience, skills and competencies
· A Proven experience in general property maintenance, repairs, gardening, or a similar field.
· Ability to carry out manual tasks and physically demanding duties safely and efficiently.
· Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
· Good communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with vulnerable individuals.
· Current Australian driver's licence.
· Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple job sites.
· Understanding of and commitment to workplace health and safety. Be flexible, willing to learn and take on new tasks.
· A good understanding of OH&S requirements and Workplace Safety
Certifications and Licences
· National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain).
· NDIS Worker Screening Check (or eligibility to apply).
· DHS Aged Care Sector Employment Screening
Job Type: Casual
Pay: $32.00 – $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
