We are seeking a dedicated, passionate individual to join the Skyrail Environment team! If you are ready to make a real difference to our environment through challenging, hands-on work that supports sustainability and conservation then this opportunity is for you!

This is a physically demanding and highly rewarding role for those who thrive outdoors and enjoy seeing the results of their hard work. As an integral member of the Environment Team, you’ll take part in vital environmental and maintenance projects that keep our natural areas safe, healthy, and thriving.

This role can either be full time or part time and full training will be provided to the right candidate.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

* Physical Tasks – Perform a range of outdoor tasks including line and tower trims, vegetation management, landscaping, track maintenance, and operating machinery. You will be working in various weather conditions and at heights, sometimes in rugged terrain.

* Environmental Stewardship – Maintain the grounds, facilities, and rainforest tracks to ensure they are in excellent condition. Undertake environmental research, monitoring, and educational tasks that align with our high environmental standards.

* Guest Interaction – Engage with visitors by providing interpretive information about the rainforest and enhancing their experience. Uphold our commitment to superior customer service and create an informative, welcoming environment.

* Wildlife & Pest Management – Assist in the sensitive relocation of rodent pests, weed control, and addressing any plant, animal, or insect threats that may impact visitors, staff, or contractors.

Required Skills and Experience:
* Experience in Conservation or Landscaping – A background and /or interest in conservation, land management, horticulture, or landscaping is highly valued. If you have relevant qualifications, they will be an asset but not essential.

* Physical Fitness – This role requires a high level of physical strength, stamina, and the ability to work confidently at heights and in varied outdoor conditions.

* Customer Service Excellence – Exceptional communication skills and a friendly, professional attitude to engage with visitors and team members.

* Team-Oriented Mindset – You’ll be working in a close-knit team, so a collaborative approach and a positive, proactive attitude are key to success.

* Attention to Detail – An eye for detail and a strong commitment to presentation standards will help you succeed in this role.

* Driver’s License & Transport – A valid driver’s license and your own transport are essential, as the role requires travel to different locations.

* Knowledge of Tropical Rainforest Ecology – While not mandatory, an understanding or interest of tropical rainforest ecosystems or experience in delivering interpretive information is highly regarded.

* Availability - Your roster will include some public holiday and weekend work. Your initial training will be at Smithfield however you will need to be able to work at from Kuranda, Barron Falls and Red Peak stations once trained.
