Project Management Specialist – Level 4 (NV1 Required)

Overview

Business Review Group (BRG) is currently supporting a requirement for an experienced Defence Project Management Specialist (Level 4) to support the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Manufacturing Division – Stage 2A Australian Industry Uplift Program.

This role will support strategic Defence capability uplift initiatives focused on sovereign guided weapons and explosive ordnance manufacturing capability across Australia. The position will provide high-level project management, stakeholder engagement, capability development, and strategic advisory support across complex Defence acquisition and sustainment environments.

The successful candidate will work closely with Defence stakeholders, industry partners, and strategic capability teams to support delivery outcomes aligned to the Defence Strategic Review 2026 and broader GWEO strategic objectives.

* Role Title: Project Management Specialist – Level 4
* Program: GWEO Manufacturing Division – Stage 2A Australian Industry Uplift
* Location: Canberra – Brindabella Business Park
* Travel: Occasional travel required to Canberra, Melbourne, and other Defence sites
* Security Clearance: NV1 minimum
* Engagement: Full-Time
* Salary: $250,000 (package)
About The Program

The Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Group was established following the Defence Strategic Review to lead strategy, capability development, acquisition, domestic production, and sustainment of guided weapons and explosive ordnance across the Australian Defence Force.

The Stage 2A program forms part of Australia's sovereign manufacturing uplift initiatives and supports the development of domestic Defence industry capability across critical GWEO functions.

Responsibilities
* Assisting with development of Business Cases and Defence capability documentation
* Supporting preliminary assessment of Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC)
* Preparing executive briefs, reports, project artefacts, and planning documentation
* Supporting capability development, acquisition, and sustainment activities
* Analysing project performance and supporting delivery against program objectives
* Conducting requirements analysis and stakeholder consultation activities
* Supporting project governance, risk management, and reporting functions
* Providing strategic business advice and project management guidance
* Supporting workshops, workforce planning activities, and implementation strategies
* Building and maintaining relationships with Defence, industry, and strategic partners
* Mentoring and supporting project teams where required
* Supporting delivery outcomes across Stage 2A and broader GWEO project activities

Candidate Requirements

Essential Experience
* Minimum 10+ years of Defence experience
* Strong project management experience within complex Defence environments
* Experience supporting capability acquisition, sustainment, or strategic Defence programs
* Demonstrated strategic advisory and stakeholder engagement capability
* Strong understanding of Defence governance, writing standards, and internal processes
* Ability to work independently and provide high-level professional judgement
* Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
* Experience engaging with senior Defence and industry stakeholders

Highly Desirable

* Experience within GWEO, sovereign manufacturing, or strategic Defence uplift programs
* CASG or SPO program experience
* Experience supporting major Defence capability projects
* Strong executive briefing and Defence documentation capability
