Project Manager – Cybersecurity ProjectsLocation: Sydney, NSW (Flexible/Hybrid Working Arrangements)Contract Type: 12-Month Daily Rate ContractRate: $960 per day + SuperannuationStart Date: From July 1st, 2025Work Environment: Unionised | High Stakeholder Engagement | NSW GovernmentAbout the OrganisationAn exciting opportunity to join a prominent NSW Government organisation committed to delivering secure, resilient, and modern digital services to the public. This department plays a critical role in safeguarding digital infrastructure and ensuring the integrity of government systems across the state.About the RoleThis NSW State government organisation are seeking a highly capable and experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver a portfolio of security-focused technology projects. This role is pivotal in enhancing the organisation’s cybersecurity posture and ensuring compliance with evolving security standards and frameworks.You will be responsible for managing end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent projects, with a primary focus on the design, implementation, and operationalisation of a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution. Additional projects will include the rollout of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using Okta, and a comprehensive patch management program across all devices and platforms within the organisation.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the planning, execution, and delivery of cybersecurity projects in alignment with organisational goals and NSW Government standards.Manage the full lifecycle of a SIEM implementation project, including vendor engagement, technical integration, and operational handover.Oversee the deployment of MFA (Okta) across the enterprise, ensuring seamless user adoption and minimal disruption.Coordinate a large-scale patching initiative to ensure all endpoints and infrastructure are compliant and secure.Engage and manage relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including technical teams, business units, unions, and executive leadership.Prepare and present project documentation, status reports, risk assessments, and governance materials.Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining a strong focus on quality and security outcomes.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will bring:Demonstrated experience managing complex IT or cybersecurity projects within large organisations, preferably in the public sector.Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and frameworks, particularly in relation to SIEM, MFA, and patch management.Proven ability to navigate unionised environments and manage competing stakeholder interests with diplomacy and clarity.Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.Experience working within NSW Government or similar regulatory environments is highly desirable.Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, CISSP, CISM) will be highly regarded.What to do now?If the above role aligns with your skills and experience then please forward an updated resume to reece.perkins@hays.com.au and apply now!
