Role Overview:

The successful candidate will hold a pivotal role in the infrastructure team responsible for setting the requirements of a new shipyard that will build and commission Naval vessels.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Establish Technical Standards: Provide technical and functional leadership and direction in establishing Mechanical engineering design, construction, and operational standards.
2. Design Certification Reviews: Arrange reviews with the Chief Engineer to ensure compliance with established standards.
3. Technical Specifications: Develop and maintain technical specifications, procedures, and guidelines.
4. Engineering Drawings: Review and approve Mechanical engineering drawings, calculations, and models.
5. Project Monitoring: Monitor project designs and construction to verify compliance with established standards.
6. Design Reviews: Conduct regular design and engineering reviews to assess adherence to best practices.
7. Technical Support: Provide technical support for resolving non-conformance issues.
8. Expertise: Act as the go-to expert for complex engineering challenges within the discipline.
9. Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance during design, construction, and commissioning.
10. Decision-Making: Support decision-making processes by offering expertise on Mechanical engineering methodologies.
11. Emerging Technologies: Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
12. Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, designers, and contractors to ensure the project's technical integrity.
13. Risk Assessments: Assist in risk assessments and mitigation strategies related to engineering aspects.
14. Vendor Evaluations: Participate in technical evaluations of vendors, materials, and equipment.
15. Design Compliance: Assure that the design and construction align with the relevant standards and codes.
16. Engineering Safety: Champion the application of engineering Safety in Design to ensure operational and maintenance requirements are achieved.
17. Value Management: Support value management activity to maximise the benefit to operations.
18. Engineering Assurance: Establish an engineering assurance function for the shipbuilder.
