An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and experienced Geochemist to join SLR's Soils, Geochemistry, Toxicology & Risk team with flexibility in one of the Australian offices. We're looking for a like-minded individual who enjoys working with an enthusiastic, committed, and fun-loving team, is a good listener, and enjoys solving issues for clients.

After a recent surge of growth and looking to diversify our work with driven consultants, and great working culture among the group in aiming for balanced work lives this has resulted in the need for more staff. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be working very closely with the multidisciplinary team across Asia-Pacific including contaminated site auditors and technical specialists comprising principal hydrogeologists, risk assessors, chemists, and environmental/remediation engineers to deliver quality Geochemistry services to our client.

Job Tasks & Responsibilities
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders across the region and provide you with the support on your technical growth within the wider SLR team. With a passion for Geochemistry, you will work with likeminded individuals, whilst enjoying excellent career opportunities across a range of industry sectors.

As a self-starter, you will be able to display confidence and high-level project management, tenders/proposals preparation, data analysis and interpretation, and reporting. Additionally, you would be expected to work with the team to identify opportunities for growth, leading with team resourcing and development, and act as a professional role model for staff across the team with a caring and compassionate nature.

Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in:

* Providing specialist knowledge in environmental geochemistry, mine waste characterisation (static/kinetic testing), and in developing management solutions for projects from exploration through to closure and rehabilitation.
* Managing complex projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to high standards.
* Acting as a primary point of contact for some clients, building client relationships and developing new business.
* Advising on mine closure planning, environmental impact assessments, pre-feasibility, feasibility, due diligence, environmental impact assessments (EIA) and regulatory compliance.
* Providing direction for field and technical programs.
* Guiding and supervising junior staff, support other principals / technical leads on the team, reviewing technical reports and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
* Writing/reviewing technical reports and developing deliverables. Integrating geochemical investigations into broader studies where needed.
* Undertaking business development and marketing activities to generate project work and promoting geochemistry team growth.
* Developing intra- and inter-business unit relationships in order to support other projects from other business units as required.
