Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide high-quality patient care in the Medical/Surgical unit, working night shifts on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have strong nursing skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver direct patient care based on individualized plans of care, exercising judgment in delegating tasks to other healthcare professionals as needed.
* Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance patient-focused nursing practice, staying up-to-date with age-specific and population-specific knowledge.
* Conduct timely, comprehensive assessments using appropriate data collection techniques, analysis, interpretation, and documentation to inform age-appropriate decisions for patient care within scope of responsibility, training, and practice.
* Develop, implement, document, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with other team members based on multidisciplinary assessments.
* Actively contribute to performance improvement initiatives within the unit.
* Perform nursing interventions emphasizing patient rights, informed consent, confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, adaptation of care according to age, culture, and ethical considerations.
* Administer medications accurately, adhering to facility standards, and safely manage controlled substances.
* Monitor patient progress, reporting changes in status to physicians and documenting in medical records.
* Cultivate effective relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care transitions and coordinate discharge needs.
* Maintain accurate records of vital signs, intake and output, and physical observations on designated forms.
* Prioritize prevention and management of pressure ulcers, providing education to patients and caregivers as necessary.
* Evaluate the need for restraints, monitors use, and discontinues as per hospital policy, collaborating with physicians or allied health professionals when needed.
* Initiate pain management strategies and perform interventions as required.
* Perform various patient care activities, including assistance with ADLs, mobilization, wound care, nutritional support, and therapeutic device usage.
* Obtain physician orders to meet patient needs and facilitate equipment maintenance requests.
* Demonstrate commitment to 'Service Excellence Initiatives' by presenting a positive first impression, anticipating customer needs, and engaging in teamwork.
Requirements:
* Graduate of an accredited college, university, or school of nursing.
* Current license or permit to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas.
* CPR (BLS) certification.
* Stroke In-service annually.
* NIH Stroke Certification within 90 days of hire (except Pediatric and Nursery).
* ACLS certification biannually for Emergency Dept., Cardiac Cath Lab, PACU, ICU, and House Supervisors.
* NRP, STABLE certification biannually for Nursery.
