About the Team & the Position
AEMO is embarking on a technology uplift program, designed to modernise systems, enhance operational efficiency, and shape the future of the energy landscape.
This large-scale transformation will impact our organisation and the broader industry.
To guide our people and stakeholders through this change, we are seeking a seasoned and strategic Program Communications & Engagement Manager.
You will be the architect of the program's narrative, responsible for ensuring clear, consistent, and compelling communication that inspires confidence, drives adoption, and maintains alignment across the entire organisation.
The Program Communications & Engagement Manager is a senior strategic role responsible for developing and executing the overarching communications and engagement strategy for our technology portfolio.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to the Program Director and the leadership team, crafting executive-level messaging and managing all program-wide communications channels.
Working in a dynamic and secure environment, you will collaborate extensively with internal communications, government relations, and stakeholder teams to ensure a cohesive and aligned narrative that supports the program's strategic objectives.
Position Responsibilities
Strategic Communications Leadership: Develop, own, and execute a comprehensive, multi-channel communications and engagement strategy that addresses the needs of diverse audiences, from the executive team to frontline staff.
Executive Communications: Serve as the primary communications advisor and support for the Program Director and leadership team.
This includes crafting key messages, talking points, presentations, briefing documents, and strategic messaging for executive forums and all-hands meetings.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Alignment: Act as the central liaison between the program and corporate functions, including Internal Communications, Government Relations, and External Stakeholder teams.
Ensure program messaging is seamlessly integrated with broader organisational and regulatory narratives.
Digital Engagement & Channel Management: Take ownership of the program's internal digital presence.
This includes managing and curating content for the program's intranet site (SharePoint) and driving engagement through platforms like Microsoft Viva Engage or similar tools.
Feedback & Measurement: Design and implement mechanisms to gauge employee sentiment and measure communication effectiveness, such as program-wide pulse surveys.
Analyse results to provide actionable insights to leadership and continuously refine communication strategies.
Information Security & Compliance: Ensure all program communications, both internal and external, adhere to strict information security protocols.
You will be responsible for handling sensitive and commercial-in-confidence material with the utmost discretion and integrity.
Position Requirements
Skills & Experience:
Strong experience in a senior strategic communications or corporate affairs role, preferably within a large, complex organisation.
Proven experience leading communications for major business transformation or technology implementation programs.
Demonstrated experience developing and delivering communications within a secure, confidential environment is essential.
Extensive experience in advising and directly supporting senior executives, with a portfolio showcasing high-quality executive communications.
Hands-on experience managing digital communication channels, including corporate intranets (SharePoint) and enterprise social networks.
Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance.
Education/ professional Certifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
