School Overview
Queanbeyan High School is a comprehensive public secondary school educating 465 students. 18% of students have English as an additional language or dialect and 15% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Student support classes meet a wide range of needs. The school's Program Based Learning (PBL) framework focuses on being 'Respectful Responsible Learners' and is underpinned by trauma‐informed practice.
Selection Criteria
* Teacher training and academic qualifications required for the position.
* Demonstrated capacity to develop and support staff at all career stages through evidence‐based practices to build a high‐performing team.
* Demonstrated ability to lead the design and implementation of rigorous and engaging teaching and learning programs and assessment.
* Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively to drive evidence‐based teaching initiatives related to the School Excellence Plan and system targets.
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
* Educational leadership skills to build capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
* Well‐developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
