The Parts Planning & Logistics Manager is responsible for leading national parts demand planning, inventory optimisation, and end-to-end logistics operations to ensure high parts availability, controlled working capital, and efficient supply chain performance.
This role plays a critical part in supporting dealer network growth, vehicle uptime, and customer satisfaction, particularly within a fast-scaling EV environment requiring specialised handling of high-voltage components.
Key Responsibilities
1. Demand Planning & Forecasting
* Develop rolling demand forecasts based on:
* Warranty trends
* Campaigns and recalls
* Seasonal demand fluctuations
* Implement forecasting models to improve accuracy and reduce stock imbalance
* Analyse consumption trends and adjust safety stock policies
* Collaborate with global headquarters on production and supply planning
2. Inventory Strategy & Optimisation
* Define national inventory strategy and stock level targets
* Monitor:
* Fill rate
* Inventory turnover
* Days of supply
* Aged and obsolete stock
* Manage working capital investment in parts inventory
* Implement aged stock reduction and obsolescence mitigation programs
* Oversee parts supersession and lifecycle management
3. Logistics & Distribution Management
* Manage inbound international shipments and customs clearance
* Coordinate with freight forwarders and 3PL warehouse providers
* Optimise freight cost, lead time, and distribution efficiency
* Establish service level agreements (SLAs) with logistics partners
* Ensure timely resolution of VOR (Vehicle Off Road) urgent shipments
* Ensure safe handling, storage, and transport of high-voltage battery components
* Ensure compliance with Australian safety and dangerous goods regulations
* Manage recall campaign logistics execution
* Develop contingency planning for critical supply disruptions
5. Dealer Network & Internal Collaboration
* Work closely with:
* Warranty team (to anticipate parts demand trends)
* Technical team (for campaign and recall planning)
* Sales team (for volume forecasting alignment)
* Provide dealer network visibility on parts availability and backorder status
* Support new dealer onboarding with stock planning models
6. Reporting & Performance Management
* Prepare monthly executive reporting including:
* Forecast accuracy
* Fill rate performance
* Inventory investment & turnover
* Backorder ratio
* Provide risk assessment reports on supply chain exposure

* Forecast accuracy percentage
* National fill rate achievement
* Inventory turnover ratio
* Working capital control
* Backorder reduction rate
* VOR response time
Qualifications & Experience
* 5–8+ years' experience in automotive parts planning or supply chain management
* OEM or national distributor experience preferred
* Strong experience in demand forecasting and inventory optimisation
* Experience managing 3PL and freight providers
* EV product knowledge highly desirable
* Experience with ERP/MRP systems
* Knowledge of import/export and customs regulations
