The School of Special Educational Needs: Disability (SSEN:D)
SSEN:D is one of eight Specialist Schools within Statewide Services. At SSEN:D we partner with schools to provide collaborative support and resources that promote learning environments where every student's potential is realised. Support is provided state-wide through a Request for Assistance model that matches the needs of schools to the skill set of Consulting Teachers.
SSEN:D is a school that strives for excellence and is committed to building the capability of teachers and school-based staff within a culture of support to ensure every student with disability is a successful student. We provide consultancy services to educators, contextualised and evidence informed professional learning, online research, information, resources and practical support in our service delivery model.
We encourage our staff to share knowledge and exhibit self-reflective practices with a focus on quality teaching. Self-improvement is supported amongst our staff through a range of Professional Learning Communities.
Our leadership team is based at Statewide Services Centre (Padbury), and at our south hub (South Lake Primary School). The successful applicant will be required to move between these locations. The successful applicant will also be required to regularly work across a number of metropolitan locations. The successful applicant will be required to hold a current and valid 'C' class driver's license. Travel may involve the use of the employee's own motor vehicle.

The Role
Join our team as an Education Assistant (Special Needs) and support the Department's objective of teaching and learning for students with special needs. In this role, you will assist in the implementation of specialised education programs and support inclusive education through the development of high-quality teaching and learning resources.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support the production of general and individualised resources to be utilised in classrooms across the state. The role involves using digital technologies and computer-based tools to create and manage resources in accessible and engaging formats. Your work will play a vital role in enhancing instruction, supporting diverse learning needs and empowering Teachers with practical, accessible tools for the classroom.

* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

Your application should include:
1. A CV of up to three (3) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position
2. A three (3) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF
* Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs, and liaise with parents, teachers and community members and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
* Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
* Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
* Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
* Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
