**Our Journey**
PARCS(Preventions and Recovery Care Services) has 10 beds and offers a short term stay (2-4 weeks) focussed on assisting consumers to meet their identified recovery goals. Referrals are received from inpatient units, community teams as well as external stakeholders (consumer/family/GP/Private mental health practitioners). The model for PARCS sees a strong commitment for Monash Health and the NGO staff to work together in providing seamless recovery oriented care to consumers during their stay. We aim to work with consumers from a recovery-orientated and evidence based framework of practice.
The program has five PARCS which includes a specialist Women's only PARCs, an Extended Care PARCs (EPARC) and Youth PARCS. The clinical service is supported by an aligned operational structure to enable the provision of high quality service through the creation of clinical-operational partnerships to support staff, consumers, carers and their families, and a strong professional structure that supports the governance of the health professional workforce.
**A Day In the Life**
The Exercise Physiologists will be based at the Clayton PARCS, and their role contributes to the team to facilitate the improvement of mental health and quality of life of consumers, maintaining their independence in the community wherever possible. Exercise Physiology seeks to achieve this through assessment, emphasis on functional status, and the utilization of compensatory as well as rehabilitative methods, to achieve functional gains in independence. This approach is crucial as functional performance levels determine community independence options.
This is a part time (0.4 EFT) ongoing position.
