About the Role
Pacific National is seeking a proactive and organised Supply Officer in Newcastle, to support the management of rollingstock spares, inventory and rotables across our maintenance facilities.
Working closely with the Superintendent National Inventory Contracts and maintenance teams, you'll ensure materials are available, well‐managed and delivered on time to support maintenance activities and fleet availability. This is a practical, operational role suited to someone with strong warehousing, inventory and procurement experience who enjoys working in a safety‐focused, industrial environment.
Responsibilities
* Be a key link between maintenance teams and supply chain operations
* Hands‐on role managing inventory, spares and warehousing in a live maintenance environment
* Opportunity to contribute directly to asset availability and operational performance
* Support day‐to‐day supply chain, inventory and procurement activities.
* Liaise with maintenance supervisors and technical teams to plan and manage spares and rotables.
* Participate in maintenance planning meetings to support materials forecasting and readiness.
* Set and manage Min/Max inventory levels in collaboration with maintenance, finance and engineering teams.
* Control inventory movements, receipts, storage, obsolescence and deliveries.
* Coordinate logistics and storage of parts across maintenance sites and warehouses.
* Inspect goods received against purchase orders and delivery documentation, resolving discrepancies.
* Pre‐pack Bills of Materials (BOMs) for planned maintenance activities.
* Monitor stock levels, conduct stocktakes and follow up variances.
* Create and manage purchase orders and inventory movements through the CMMS.
* Expedite supplier orders to meet maintenance timelines and maximise use of sourcing agreements.
* Maintain accurate records of all supply chain and inventory transactions.
* Support supplier performance monitoring and compliance.
* Safety, Compliance & Warehouse Governance: Ensure all warehouse and procurement activities comply with PN policies, WHS and rail safety requirements.
* Manage storage, handling and disposal of dangerous goods in line with legislative requirements.
* Conduct warehouse safety checks, housekeeping and hazard management activities.
* Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support LEAN and efficiency improvements within warehouse operations.
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years' experience in warehousing, materials handling and/or procurement.
* Current forklift licence (essential).
* C-Class driver's licence.
* Experience working with inventory and procurement systems in a maintenance or industrial environment.
* Strong planning, organisation and time‐management skills.
* Sound understanding of inventory control and supply chain processes.
* Strong attention to detail and administrative capability.
* Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Ability to work effectively within a team and take initiative.
* Self Starter.
* Supply or logistics qualifications and Maximo experience are desirable but not essential.
