Range: $134,618 – $150,549 (including salary $114,199 – $127,898)
Position Overview
The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment (DLPE) is recruiting a Senior Planner to support the Big Rivers Region of the Northern Territory. The role is preferably based in Katherine, with the ability to perform duties from Darwin and regular travel to Katherine for meetings.
Location and Travel
Primary location: Katherine, Northern Territory. Work can be performed from Darwin, but the candidate will need to travel regularly to Katherine and other locations within the Big Rivers Region for DCA meetings, site inspections and client engagements.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‐level professional advice to the Department, the Northern Territory Planning Commission, the Development Consent Authority (DCA), relevant Government Departments and the public on planning and development issues in Katherine and the Big River Region.
* Process development applications, prepare reports to the DCA and the Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment.
* Ensure developments comply with the relevant Planning Scheme.
* Conduct inspections of development sites.
Qualifications and Experience
* Hold a degree or diploma in Land Use Planning or a related field from an Australian tertiary institution.
* Be eligible for full corporate membership of the Planning Institute of Australia.
* Have demonstrable recent experience dealing with a wide range of land use, land capability and development planning issues.
* Possess well‐developed political and cross‐cultural awareness and the ability to communicate effectively with technical, professional and lay audiences.
