Sydney Street Stays (SSS) is a growing, locally owned accommodation business based in Muswellbrook. We provide well‑presented, comfortable stays for workers, families, and travellers and are now seeking a motivated Property & Operations Assistant to support daily accommodation operations.
This is a flexible, hands‑on role suited to a self‑starter who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and wants to grow alongside a small business. The role is ideal for a university student or someone seeking flexible working hours, with most hands‑on work completed between 10:00am (checkout) and 2:00pm (check‑in).
About the Role
You will support the smooth operation of our accommodation at 186 Sydney Street, assisting with property presentation, guest services, admin, bookings, marketing, and stock management across Sydney Street Stays and related businesses.
This is a dynamic role with opportunities to grow as the business expands.
Key Responsibilities
Property Operations & Inspections
* Daily property inspection and basic house cleaning between 10am–2pm
* Inspection of available rooms only (no inspections while rooms are occupied)
* Daily inspection of common areas to ensure presentation standards are maintained
* Identifying and reporting maintenance, cleanliness, or supply issues
Guest Room Servicing
* Guest Room Servicing
* Guests may request daily room keeping (bed making and light refresh)
* Full Daily housekeeping services (If requested by customer)
* Strict privacy rule: no room entry without guest consent
Housekeeping & Kitchen Care
* Basic house cleaning as required
* Cleaning and resetting the kitchen area and appliances
* Sorting and correctly storing cutlery, crockery, and kitchen items
Linen & Laundry
* Stripping linen from vacated rooms
* Sorting linen by type
* Dropping off and collecting linen from the laundrette
* A provisional or full driver's licence is required for linen collection and delivery duties
* Storing clean linen neatly and reporting damaged or missing items
Storeroom & Stock Management
* Managing linen, consumables, and storeroom stock
* Maintaining organisation of the on‑site storage compound (shelving and racking)
* Monitoring stock levels and reporting low or missing items
* Assisting with preparation of cold drinks and snacks for guest use
* Ensuring storage areas remain clean, organised, and compliant
Admin, Bookings & Marketing
* Answering phone calls and responding to booking enquiries during work hours
* Assisting with reservations and guest communication
* Admin support across Sydney Street Stays and related businesses
* Using social media platforms and websites for basic sales and marketing
* Assisting with local business networking and community engagement
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
* Reliable, organised, and well‑presented
* A self‑driven individual with integrity, initiative, and the confidence to take action without being asked.
* Comfortable working independently
* Confident communicating with guests and the public
* Happy to perform hands‑on tasks in a dynamic environment
* Interested in entrepreneurship or small business operations
* Must be willing to obtain a current Police Check (or already hold one).
* This is a drug and alcohol‑free workplace. Staff must be fit for duty at all times
* Applicants must have valid Australian work rights
* Minimum age requirement is 18 years
