About The Role
We have exciting opportunities for energetic and skilled Forklift Operators to join our teams at depots in Darwin/East Arm and Alice Springs.
Working under general direction, the Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles and containers with freight up to legal capacity, and blending freight to maximize payloads.
The role may also support other warehouse and logistics functions to ensure optimal operations.
This is a full-time position in our freight division, reporting to Operations Managers/Supervisors.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Perform pre-start checks on forklift and equipment to ensure proper working order.
Operate forklift and machinery safely, following policies and procedures.
Ensure all freight is accurately scanned, matched, sorted, and stored correctly.
Conduct 'Checked, Weighed and Cubed' (CWC) processes to reduce revenue leakage.
Handle freight with proper documentation, ensuring safe loading/unloading with zero damage within time limits.
Blend freight to maximize load revenue.
Comply with legislative load mass requirements and Chain of Responsibility, including load restraint.
Review consignment notes, provide feedback on quality/issues, and verify freight sorting accuracy.
Maintain cleanliness of inbound units and record/remove pallets, load restraint equipment, and dunnage appropriately.
Report incidents such as damage or shortages promptly.
Record dunnage and load restraint equipment usage as per procedures.
Keep the yard organized and tidy.
Strive for zero near-miss incidents or accidents.
Build professional relationships across the organization.
Contribute to team goals and suggest process improvements.
Perform any other tasks or projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
Strong commitment to Health, Safety & Environment practices.
Integrity, professionalism, and a customer-focused approach.
Current Class LF Forklift License (High Risk Work License).
Experience operating forklifts in similar environments.
Experience loading/unloading various types of freight, including oversized and non-palletized cargo.
Physical ability for manual handling of freight up to 20kg.
Effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to meet targets and deadlines, with good time management and resilience.
Proven load planning skills.
Ability to work independently with a proactive attitude.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Participation in safety meetings and training.
Compliance with all operational measurables and safety standards.
Experience with general freight, including oversized and long-length cargo, with zero damages.

Benefits and Compensation
The salary range is $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
