The Opportunity:
We are seeking Data Centre Technician's to join a world‐class team supporting one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world. This isn't just a "fix‐it" job; it's a hands‐on role in a high‐stakes, mission‐critical environment where you ensure the physical heartbeat of the cloud remains steady 24/7.
You will be responsible for the end‐to‐end delivery of technical support and hardware installations. From complex rack deployments and structured cabling to board‐level fault diagnosis, your work directly impacts the reliability of global digital services.
Key Responsibilities
* Infrastructure Deployment: Lead the installation, commissioning, and optimisation of production server hardware and new "whitespace" designs.
* Maintenance & Break‐Fix: Perform system board‐level repairs, hardware troubleshooting, and structured cabling.
* Incident Management: Prioritise ticketing queues, resolve escalations, and navigate rigorous Change Management protocols to clear blocking issues.
* Site Planning: Assist in planning and commissioning new rack positions and physical infrastructure.
* Collaboration: Work in close collaboration to other technical teams & non‐technical teams (e.g networking, compute, compliance, business operations)
Detailed Responsibilities
* Infrastructure Deployment & Life‐cycle Management
* New Builds: Participate in the design, planning, and commissioning of new "whitespaces" and rack positions.
* Full‐Stack Installation: Support the deployment of physical infrastructure, including server hardware, storage, and networking equipment.
* Structured Cabling: Manage the end‐to‐end installation, replacement, and troubleshooting of copper and fibre cabling – This is a significant and core component of this position.
* System Optimisation: Participate in the ongoing monitoring and optimisation of all production hardware to ensure peak performance.
* Incident Response & Technical Support
* Break‐Fix Operations: Perform complex hardware repairs, including system board‐level diagnosis and component replacement, ensuring all tasks meet strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Problem Escalation: Act as a critical point of contact for escalating technical support and providing timely solutions for internal customer issues.
* Change Management: Operate strictly within a ticket‐based environment.
* Operational Excellence & Collaboration
* Multi‐Disciplinary Teamwork: Work alongside diverse teams, including Networking, Compute, Compliance, and Business Operations.
* Strategic Reporting: Utilise internal tools to provide accurate, real‐time reporting on site health and project progress.
* Queue Management: Proactively prioritise ticketing queues to clear blocking issues and maintain the flow of technician activities.
Crucial Requirements
* The 60‐Minute Response: Due to the "mission‐critical" nature of this site, you must hold a valid driver's license and reside within 60 minutes of the data centre to support on‐call shifts.
* 24/7 Commitment: You must be willing and able to participate in a 7x24‐hour standby rotation and shift program.
* Hardware Proficiency: Deep experience in fault diagnosis, hardware troubleshooting, and large‐scale rack deployments.
* Communication: Ability to translate complex technical problems into actionable solutions for both technical and non‐technical stakeholders.
* Tickets: Must have a Construction Induction Card (White Card) or be willing to obtain
* Clearance: Must be able to pass and obtain a National Police Clearance
