Location: ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, VICWorking Arrangement: Hybrid - 40 hours per weekSecurity clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1LH-02645Key duties and responsibilitiesIn this role, you design, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot OpenShift and other Kubernetes clusters within enterprise environments, ensuring they meet high standards of availability, reliability, and scalability. You work closely with developers to automate the deployment, scaling, and lifecycle management of containerized applications on OpenShift, leveraging GitOps platforms and CI/CD pipelines to streamline and accelerate service delivery. Your responsibilities include overseeing cluster operations such as in-place upgrades, resource allocation, configuration management, and capacity planning to ensure optimal performance and responsible resource utilization. You develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Helm to support scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure. With a strong focus on security, you apply best practices such as vulnerability scanning, network segmentation, and role-based access control to protect the environment. You lead technical teams in delivering OpenShift projects, mentor junior engineers, and manage timelines and deliverables to ensure successful execution. Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including developers, architects, and business stakeholders—you help align operations with broader business goals. Additionally, you maintain thorough documentation of systems, processes, and best practices, and actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the team. While on-call duties are not the norm, you may be required to support critical incidents or provide occasional out-of-hours assistance during maintenance or special activities.RequirementsResponse must be as a one-page pitch addressing the essential criteria:Essential Criteria1. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline is highly desirable. Alternatively, candidates with at least five years of demonstrated professional experience in a large-scale ICT environment, along with a minimum of three years specifically within large-scale Kubernetes environments, will also be considered.2. Experience:A minimum of five years' experience in system administration, including hands-on expertise managing OpenShift or Kubernetes clusters.Deep knowledge and experience in Kubernetes administration, covering key areas such as networking, security, storage, and troubleshooting in containerized environments.Prior experience working within government or other highly regulated sectors, with a strong understanding of and compliance with standards such as the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Essential Eight.3. Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or equivalent certification, or a willingness to obtain these certifications within the first3-6 months of employment.Desirable Criteria:Certifications in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, as well as the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification, are highly valued. Alternatively, a demonstrated commitment to obtaining these certifications within the first 3 to 6 months of employment is also acceptable.Broad experience and understanding of various ICT technologies and methodologies is considered highly advantageous. Key areas of expertise include Kubernetes, Ansible, Helm, Python and Bash scripting, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Linux systems.
