About the Role
Canterbury Hospital is committed to providing high quality healthcare services to our local community, focused on patient and family-centred care. Since opening in 1929 our hospital continues to grow to meet the changing needs of our community and incorporate recent models of care.
Lead and manage the Social Work Department at Canterbury Hospital, including the supervision of staff, management of professional standards and development of safety and quality. The Head of Department also works with the Professional Discipline Director of Social Work and other Heads of Departments/Deputy Heads of Department to enhance Social Work services, standards and quality across the allied health stream in Sydney LHD.

Ideal Candidate
- Must hold a Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work according to the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award that provides eligibility for full membership with the AASW.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to identify opportunities and innovatively lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of service delivery incorporating continuous improvement, evidence based practice and research.
- Extensive experience and demonstrated ability in building and maintaining professional and therapeutic relationships with key stakeholders and patients/clients through the application of well-developed written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
