Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation – South Hedland WA

Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (KNAC) is looking for a Home Program Support Officer to support Nyiyaparli members with housing, rentals, and home ownership.

This is a hands-on, community-focused role where you'll work directly with people to help them find, secure, and maintain safe and stable housing.

You don't need to know everything already. Training, guidance, and ongoing support will be provided.

For cultural safety reasons, this position is identified for a male due to cultural communication protocols.


About KNAC

KNAC is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate for the Nyiyaparli People, with around 400 members. The Nyiyaparli People are the Traditional Owners of approximately 36,684 square kilometres of land and waters across the east Pilbara, including Jigalong, Parnpajinya, pastoral leases, and major mining areas.


Location

This role is located at KNAC's South Hedland office, in Western Australia.


About the role

Based in South Hedland and reporting to the Home Program Support Coordinator, you'll work closely with Nyiyaparli members to:

Help with paperwork to buy a home

Support members to find and secure rental properties

Advocate with real estate agents, landlords, and service providers

Help manage repairs, maintenance, and inspections

Support members to understand their responsibilities as tenants or homeowners

Run or assist with workshops about housing and home management

You'll also work with trades, government agencies, and community services to make sure members get the right support when they need it.

This role involves a mix of case management, advocacy, workshops, and practical support, all delivered in a culturally safe and respectful way.


We're looking for someone who

* Has experience working with Nyiyaparli people or Aboriginal communities
* Understands the importance of privacy and confidentiality
* Can advocate confidently on behalf of community members
* Understands the unique housing challenges and cultural considerations in Aboriginal communities
* Is organised and comfortable handling paperwork and computer systems
* Follows procedures and pays attention to detail
* Communicates clearly, respectfully, and professionally
* Is committed to learning
* Works well both independently and as part of a team
* Experience supporting people with housing, rentals, or property matters
* Strong cultural awareness and community engagement skills
* National Police Check
* Working With Children Check
