We are seeking to establish a pool of Student Support Officers for permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the **** school year and up to the end of Term 2, ****. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Australind Senior High School (SHS) is located north of Bunbury with easy access to the wider Southwest region. It has a student population of 1,200 and is one of the most successful schools in the Southwest region, with a strong history of outstanding success for students in both ATAR and VET pathways. As a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school, the wellbeing structure is robust, ensuring students are cared for socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.
The Role
Australind SHS is seeking highly motivated, dedicated and proactive Student Support Officers to join our Student Services team. You will provide pastoral care support to students individually and in groups, encouraging attendance and achievement by creating an environment that nurtures emotional, physical, academic and mental health and wellbeing of all students within a cohort. You will also develop intervention strategies, including preventative programs, and build links between students, families and the school. Knowledge of the youth sector and associated agencies is desirable, as is experience as a youth worker or Student Support Officer.
Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, both written and oral, an ability to engage with all stakeholders, exceptional interpersonal skills, independent and collaborative working style, and experience with high-level, precise record-keeping and note-taking, particularly on Compass.
