Overview
The Fleet Manager is responsible for the effective management, maintenance, and operation of the company's vehicle fleet to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant transport operations. The role involves overseeing vehicle performance, coordinating maintenance and repairs, managing driver compliance, and ensuring that all fleet activities meet relevant regulatory requirements in Western Australia. The Fleet Manager works closely with management, drivers, and external service providers to optimise fleet utilisation, minimise downtime, and maintain high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Manage the day-to-day operation of the company's fleet of vehicles, ensuring all vehicles are available, safe, and operational to meet transport schedules and client requirements.
* Monitor fleet utilisation and performance to maximise efficiency, reduce operating costs, and support the timely delivery of transport services.
* Coordinate routine servicing, preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs of all vehicles to ensure compliance with manufacturer recommendations and relevant safety regulations.
* Maintain accurate fleet records including vehicle registrations, maintenance logs, service histories, fuel usage, and compliance documentation.
* Ensure all vehicles meet roadworthiness standards and comply with relevant transport legislation, safety standards, and regulatory requirements in Western Australia.
* Liaise with mechanics, service providers, parts suppliers, and other contractors to arrange maintenance, repairs, and procurement of vehicle parts and equipment.
* Oversee vehicle acquisition, replacement planning, and disposal processes to ensure the fleet remains reliable and cost effective.
* Monitor fuel consumption and operating expenses, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce fleet-related costs.
* Implement and maintain systems for tracking vehicle usage, maintenance schedules, and operational performance.
* Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements relating to vehicle operation, maintenance, and transport activities.
* Support the management of drivers by ensuring appropriate vehicle allocation, monitoring safe driving practices, and addressing operational issues relating to fleet use.
* Investigate vehicle incidents, breakdowns, or mechanical failures and coordinate appropriate corrective actions to minimise disruption to operations.
* Assist management with planning, reporting, and strategic decisions regarding fleet operations and future fleet requirements.
* Provide guidance and support to drivers regarding vehicle operation, reporting procedures, and maintenance requirements.
