Berry North is a family owned business that specialises in the production of blueberries. Our blueberry orchards are located near Atherton and Dimbulah, FNQ. We operate a blueberry packing facility at our Atherton farm.
About the role
We are looking for a 2IC for our blueberry packhouse. Be part of our small packing team and learn to operate the blueberry grading and packing equipment. This role supports the packhouse manager and is based at our Atherton site.
Key responsibilities include:
* Operating and maintaining blueberry grading and packing machinery. Become an expert on the operation of the packing equipment
* Conducting quality assessments on blueberries on arrival to the pack house, during grading and after packaging.
* Keep clear and concise records of fruit quality and volumes.
* Fault finding issues with packing equipment and resolving problems.
* Communicating quality feedback to pack house manager and harvest teams.
* Optimise blueberry quality and pack-out through skilled operation of equipment.
* Support pack house manager in all aspects of production and operations.
To Be Successful in this Role:
* A strong interest in the fresh produce industry and a passion for technology.
* Technically skilled and adaptive to change. We use the latest vision grading and automated equipment.
* Understand horticultural practices and requirements
* Ability to problem solve and mechanically minded.
* Have a proactive, can do attitude.
* Self motivated with excellent attention to detail.
* Sound computer and technology skills including Microsoft Office
* Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team.
How to Apply
Blueberries are a seasonal crop and this role is based in our refrigerated packhouse from the months of March to October. Outside of these months, field work on our farms will make this role a full time position.
