Family Support Specialist Role

We are seeking a skilled professional to provide support and engagement to vulnerable families with young children, focusing on parenting and life skills.


Main Responsibilities:

* Deliver high-quality parenting and life skills support to families with young children
* Understand child development and the impact of trauma on children, including neglect
* Show awareness and sensitivity to local Aboriginal culture and history
* Effectively communicate with the Alice Springs Aboriginal community and extended family members

The ideal candidate will have experience working with families with complex needs, including domestic violence, substance abuse, trauma, and loss. A good understanding of community-based services is essential.


Essential Qualifications:

* Current driver's license in Northern Territory
* Fluency in one or more local Aboriginal languages in Central Australia (an asset)
* Experience working with families with complex needs
* Good understanding of community-based services

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police clearance and be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (three doses).
