This is hands-on safety culture work. Our teams across WA work in varied environments, and we are now focused on building a single way of operating safely in the field — a consistent approach that gives people clarity and confidence wherever they are.
You will bring this to life by lifting capability, setting clear expectations, and working side-by-side with people in metropolitan and regional locations and field settings. You will help embed simple, reliable safety behaviours and SOPs, and support teams to build strong, steady habits that unite how we work.
And you will also be leading our WHS strategy and systems — ensuring compliance, strengthening our digital safety tools, and driving continuous improvement in a way that supports real practice on the ground.
If you enjoy shaping behaviour and leaving a meaningful imprint on safety culture across diverse operating teams — helping them get their work done safely while caring for Western Australia's environment, water and climate — this is your chance to lead from the front.
The Department is looking for someone with substantial experience in managing WHS functions, a strong understanding of public sector frameworks, and the capability to lead others while building organisational capability.
