Capital Design Works designs, manufactures and installs premium custom joinery and gaming environments for clubs, pubs and casinos across NSW, QLD and VIC. We run an in-house manufacturing facility and deliver end-to-end projects from design through to installation.
We're adding a Documentation Drafter to strengthen our drafting throughput and keep jobs moving cleanly from sales to set-out to production—without the constant back-and-forth and rework.
The role
This is a hands-on documentation-focused drafting role supporting our senior drafters and project team. Your job is to keep drawing packs accurate, complete and current—so the factory and install teams can build and deliver without delays.
You'll be working on commercial joinery and fitout documentation (not residential) and you won't be expected to do sales or spend your week on the road.
Location: Sydney (primarily on-site with our factory and drafting team)
Type: Full-time (preferred)
Level: Junior–Intermediate (documentation strength is the priority)
What you'll be doing
* Produce and update documentation packs (issue for manufacture / issue for install / revision updates).
* Maintain drawing registers, revision control, and clear versioning across projects.
* Prepare set-out / detail drawings and update drawings from redlines and mark-ups.
* Assist with project setup and internal handovers so drafting doesn't start without the right info.
* Chase and consolidate missing selections/specs (finishes, hardware, appliances, client notes) so documents are complete before release.
* Support the team with standard details, templates, schedules, and repeatable pack structure.
* Coordinate with scheduling / PM / factory to keep priorities aligned and prevent drafting "context switching".
What we're looking for
Must-haves
* Strong drafting documentation skills with solid attention to detail.
* Confidence working with CAD (AutoCAD or similar) and producing clean, buildable drawings.
* Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities change—without losing control of revisions.
* Clear communication: you can ask the right questions early and close loops quickly.
* Pride in accuracy, layout, and professional presentation of drawing packs.
Highly regarded
* Joinery / cabinetmaking / commercial fitout drafting exposure.
* Experience producing shop drawings, set-out, details, schedules (hardware/finishes/components).
* Familiarity with manufacturing workflows (how drawings translate to production reality).
* Experience working alongside PMs, schedulers, estimators, and factory supervisors.
