About the role

A Resource Recovery Team Member Driver supports the delivery of essential waste and recycling services across the Inner West community.

This hands‐on role involves operating waste collection vehicles while leading a small crew to complete daily collection runs safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Services include garbage, recycling, garden organics, clean‐ups and lane cleaning within a dynamic, team‐based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate waste compaction and collection vehicles across day or night shifts
• Lead and support a small team to complete assigned collection runs
• Collect, load and transport waste and recyclables across multiple service streams
• Maintain compliance with WHS requirements, road rules and Council procedures
• Engage respectfully with community members and minimise disruption

Required skills, experience & qualifications

• Class HR Drivers Licence, basic computer skills and literacy
• Demonstrated strong customer service focus and being conscientious and reliable
• Demonstrated ability to perform work safely at all times and actively ensuring the safety of your team members and others including the public and community at large
• Suitable level of fitness relative to position
• Ability and preparedness to work flexibly across any collection services in a team based customer focussed environment
• Demonstrated experience in operating mechanical road plant in a high density urban environment
