An Australian R&D and manufacturing company developing advanced defence and industrial systems is expanding its operations team and now hiring a Manufacturing Manager to lead production as the business moves into full-scale manufacturing.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the entire manufacturing plant, overseeing production, purchasing, logistics, facilities, quality, health & safety, and electronics assembly teams. You will ensure alignment across all functions to deliver high-quality products on time and to standard. The position requires strong leadership in lean manufacturing, compliance, and continuous improvement, with the opportunity to shape a modern production environment for complex, high-technology systems.
This is a full-time, Adelaide-based role with excellent access to public transport and parking.
Full relocation is required for interstate candidates; cost assistance is provided.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
* Lead production, purchasing, logistics, facilities, quality, WHS, and electronics assembly teams.
* Manage and support the team to meet delivery and compliance goals.
* Implement Lean Six Sigma practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management standards; AS9100 knowledge desirable.
* Oversee supply chain processes, purchasing, and logistics to support production.
* Maintain a safe workplace through effective WHS systems and practices.
* Report directly to the CEO and provide regular updates on plant performance.
Requirements:
* Background in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
* Proven experience managing manufacturing or production operations, ideally with metals, composites, or assembly lines.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience with Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001 quality systems.
* Understanding of purchasing, logistics, and supply chain management.
* Must be an Australian citizen.
Desirable but not essential:
* Knowledge of AS9100 quality management standards.
* WHS qualifications or certifications.
* Experience in aerospace, defence, or other high-technology industries.
