Mechanical Leading Hand FIFO (15:13) - Power Generation
A growing power generation and energy solutions business is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Field Service Technician to support operations across major power station sites in the Pilbara and Queensland regions.
Specialising in large-scale gas engine power systems and energy infrastructure, the company delivers critical power solutions across mining, industrial, infrastructure, and commercial sectors throughout Australia.
The Role
Reporting into the Operations team, you will be responsible for leading a small crew of technicians across maintenance, servicing, troubleshooting, and operational support activities on power generation equipment.
This position combines technical leadership with hands‐on field work, ensuring projects and maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate a team of 2-3 field technicians across site-based operations
* Carry out hands‐on maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on large reciprocating gas engines
* Support planning and execution of shutdowns, inspections, and corrective maintenance activities
* Liaise with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
* Complete service documentation, reporting, timesheets, and work order closeouts
* Promote a strong safety‐first culture across all field operations
* Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior technicians and team members
* Identify opportunities for operational and process improvements in the field
About You
* Trade qualified in a mechanical discipline
* Minimum 5 years' experience working on large reciprocating engines or power generation equipment
* Strong fault‐finding and diagnostic capabilities
* Previous experience leading small teams highly regarded
* Safety-focused with strong communication and customer engagement skills
* Comfortable working autonomously across remote site environments
* Willingness to travel FIFO as required
