As our highly valued Tax Specialist based in Brisbane, you will play a key role in delivering high‐quality tax advice and ensuring the bank meets its regulatory obligations with confidence. This is a hands‐on role with real breadth, spanning compliance, reporting, advisory, and risk, giving you exposure across the business and influence on strategic initiatives.
You will be part of the CFO Division within the Finance team, a group accountable for financial reporting, tax, treasury operations, and continuous improvement across the bank. This is a team that values rigour, curiosity, and smarter ways of working.
Your impact and contribution
* Own the preparation and review of direct and indirect tax obligations, including income tax, GST and FBT, ensuring accurate and timely lodgements
* Deliver tax effect accounting and support statutory reporting and disclosures
* Contribute to investor tax reporting, including FATCA, CRS and annual investment income reporting
* Partner with the business to provide clear, pragmatic tax advice across BAU and strategic initiatives
* Monitor legislative changes and lead implementation impacts across the bank
* Identify and manage tax risk within governance frameworks, strengthening controls and documentation
* Work closely with Finance, Treasury, People & Culture, Legal and external advisors to deliver integrated outcomes
* Build tax capability across the organisation as a trusted and approachable expert
* Drive process improvement, including automation and data quality uplift
Do things differently with us
To succeed in this role, you will have
* 5+ years' experience in tax within a Big 4/mid‐tier firm or large corporate
* Exposure to financial services is advantageous, not essential
* Strong working knowledge of Australian corporate tax, GST and FBT requirements
* Degree in Finance, Accounting or similar
* CA, CPA or CTA qualification preferred
* A commercial mindset with the ability to translate technical tax into practical business outcomes
