Offer description

Working within Perth & Kinross Council is more than a job, it's about being part of something meaningful. It's about being part of an organisation that puts people at the heart of all we do and provides opportunities to make a real difference by enhancing every life we touch.

We currently have the following opportunity :

Construction Supervisor, Mechanical Services (Fixed Term until 7 July 2028) - PKC12823

Perth and Kinross Council is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a Construction Supervisor, Mechanical Services, to join the Energy & Engineering, M&E Capital Projects Team.

This is a development role where the successful candidates will undertake further education in a Mechanical building services related course (HNC / HND) while working on large Capital Projects alongside experienced staff.

The role involves working on small to medium projects as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to larger scale new build and refurbishment projects, including supervising external projects that deliver facilities like schools, libraries, and leisure centres.

The post holder will represent PKC throughout all project stages, attend design/technical meetings, and supervise PKC technical staff, including Clerk of Works and Trainees, during design, construction, and post-construction phases.

Key responsibilities include acting as a 'job runner' or contract administrator for externally designed projects, producing design briefs, and overseeing the pre-design phase to ensure PKC's specifications are incorporated.

The role also involves supervising on-site activities to ensure standards are met, working closely with internal and external teams, and considering energy savings and low carbon technologies in design proposals aligned with the Council's Climate Change agenda.

Skills & Experience Required

Candidates should have experience in design, review, and supervision of Mechanical services within a Building Services Environment. They should be willing to undertake further HN studies (HNC or HND) depending on entry qualifications.

Excellent planning, organisational skills, and the ability to complete reports and briefs within deadlines are essential. The candidate must be innovative, supportive, outgoing, professional, and confident, with strong communication skills to liaise effectively with diverse audiences.

Supervisory experience is essential, including managing site operations for large and small projects, attending meetings, and resolving technical queries professionally. Knowledge of Mechanical building services systems, design software, and Microsoft Office is required. Appropriate education, professional membership, and relevant experience are also necessary.
