The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a critical participant in the administration of justice within Western Australia, providing an independent and effective criminal prosecution service and confiscation practice.

As a State Prosecutor L4LG, you will represent the community and public interest by conducting criminal prosecutions under Western Australia state law throughout various courts. In this role you will be responsible for preparing and presenting complex prosecution cases, as they progress through the criminal court process.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool from which appointments will be made. This pool will run for a period of up to twelve months and may be used to fill permanent and fixed term full time and part time vacancies if they arise and subject to business needs.

To be eligible for a permanent appointment to a position with the ODPP, it is essential that you are an Australian Citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia. Non-permanent residents of Australia are only eligible for fixed term appointments if they possess a valid visa with appropriate working rights for the duration of the fixed term appointment.

Initially please submit the following to be considered for the role:

* A completed online Application Form including details of two current or recent referees including a current or recent supervisor.
* A comprehensive resume/CV that provides sufficient information for the Office to assess your capabilities against all the work related requirements identified in the JDF, and
* A written statement of no more than three (3) pages highlighting your relevant experience and outlining the personal skills and attributes you can bring to this role.
* If you are on a temporary working visa, please attach a copy of your IMMI Visa Grant notification to your application.

The work-related requirements for the role will be assessed throughout the selection process. A variety of assessment methodologies may be used throughout the recruitment process, including but not limited to skills assessments, video interviews, aptitude testing, psychological interview/s and referee checks.

When considering whether the ODPP is right for you, it is important to consider the nature of the agency's functions. The ODPP deals with serious criminal offences, including homicide offences involving members of the WA Community. In the course of your duties, you will encounter materials including, however not limited to, photographs, videos, written statements, and oral evidence. You will have direct engagement with members of the WA Community associated with these charges. This material may be confronting and emotionally distressing. The ODPP is committed to reducing exposure to staff wherever possible by offering educational programs and supportive resources through the ODPP's Mental Health and Wellness program.

Criminal Record, Employment and Integrity Screening

Given the nature of the work of the ODPP, all appointments to ODPP positions will be subject to formal criminal records screening and employment screenings and any other clearances deemed to be required including psychological assessments as part of our commitment to the mental health and wellbeing of our workforce.
