Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focused on delivering high-quality, effective, person-centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary, and community-based health services to the ACT and surrounding regions. More information can be found on the CHS website.

The successful candidate will undergo extensive training in clinical cardiology, including management of patients in coronary care, chest pain evaluation clinic, emergency department, general cardiology ward, outpatient clinics including heart function clinic, cardiology consultation, and preadmission clinic. Training in basic echocardiography and stress testing will also be provided. The candidate will participate in the after-hours on-call cardiology roster, approximately 1:5 to 1:6.

The Department of Cardiology at Canberra Hospital offers tertiary cardiology services to the ACT and Greater Southern NSW region. It has 12 consultant cardiologists and four accredited Advanced Trainees in Cardiology. The Coronary Care Unit has 19 beds. The department specializes in acute cardiovascular care, echocardiography, cardiac CT, interventional cardiology, structural cardiology (TAVI), cardiac electrophysiology, and heart function/pulmonary hypertension clinics.

Note: Applications are invited for the Unaccredited Cardiology Registrar position at Canberra Hospital, starting 2 February 2026 for one year with the possibility of extension. Candidates should have passed the written and clinical FRACP examination and aim to pursue Advanced Training in Cardiology in 2026.
