Job Description

MSHS Special Education Teacher / Case Manager (50% LRE Teacher / 50% Case Manager)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Responsibilities

Instructional (LRE Teacher – 50%)

* Provide direct and/or indirect instructional services aligned to student IEPs.
* Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to individual student needs.
* Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction using data-driven practices.
* Monitor and assess student progress toward IEP goals and academic standards.
* Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in student plans.
* Serve as Teacher of Record and/or Teacher of Service as assigned.
* Direct, support, and evaluate paraprofessionals to meet student needs.
* Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and progress monitoring.
* Coordinate development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Improvement Plans (BIP) as needed.
* Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
* Communicate regularly with the building principal regarding student needs and progress.
* Facilitate timely communication with parents, guardians, or educational representatives.
* Participate in building and district professional development.
* Remain current in instructional practices and educational pedagogy.

Case Management (50%)

* Develop, write, and manage IEPs with measurable goals, benchmarks, and objectives.
* Coordinate and facilitate case conference meetings.
* Monitor implementation of IEPs across all service providers.
* Track and analyze student data to inform instructional and program decisions.
* Coordinate evaluations and reevaluations with appropriate staff.
* Support development and implementation of behavioral plans as needed.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records.
Collaboration and Communication
* Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff to support student growth.
* Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and services.
* Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers.
* Assist in identifying students who may require additional supports or services.
* Support building-level programming and student services initiatives.
Professional Responsibilities
* Ensure all timelines, documentation, and reporting requirements are met.
* Maintain strict confidentiality of student information.
* Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and ethical conduct.
* Assist administration with building organization and support as needed.
* Contribute positively to the school and district community.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Special Education or related field.
* Valid Indiana Teaching License in Special Education.
* Minimum of two (2) years of experience writing and implementing IEPs preferred.
* Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and progress monitoring.
* Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills.
* Commitment to continuous professional growth.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
* Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
* Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of materials.
* Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
* Work in indoor and occasional outdoor environments year-round.
* Ability to function in a moderately noisy and active school setting.

* Demonstrate flexibility to meet the dynamic needs of students and the school.
* Perform additional duties as assigned in alignment with student needs and district priorities.
