Maintenance Manager – Somersby, NSW
About The Role
At our Hebel site in Somersby, you'll be part of a high-performing, industrial operation where reliability, safety, and output matter. This isn't a desk job — it's a role for someone who knows how to lead from the front and keep a plant running.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for the full maintenance and engineering function across a large, multi-line manufacturing site.
You'll lead a sizeable team (direct and indirect), manage a busy capital pipeline, and ensure plant performance, safety, and cost targets are met — without compromise.
This is a Monday–Friday role with real-world expectations: being available when needed, supporting shutdowns, and staying close to the operation.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading the maintenance and engineering function across two production lines
* Driving a strong safety culture aligned to WSHE standards — non-negotiable
* Managing maintenance budgets, forecasting, and cost control
* Planning and executing shutdowns and ongoing maintenance schedules
* Delivering improvements in plant reliability and OEE
* Leading (including Engineers) and overseeing a broader maintenance crew
* Managing service contractors and ensuring full compliance with safety standards
* Delivering a significant pipeline of capital projects
* Embedding preventative maintenance programs
* Establishing and maintaining spare parts strategies and CMMS (SAP preferred)
* Supporting environmental compliance (wastewater, discharge, system controls)
* Driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency across the site
About You
* Proven Maintenance Manager (or similar) experience in heavy industry or manufacturing (FMCG, building materials, mining, etc.)
* Strong leadership capability — able to drive performance, accountability, and cultural change
* Hands‐on approach — visible on the floor, not just behind a desk
* Experience working in unionised or complex industrial environments
* Solid background in shutdown planning, breakdown management, and prioritisation under pressure
* Demonstrated experience delivering capital projects
* Strong safety leadership track record
* Mechanical or Electrical background (trade or engineering) highly regarded
* Experience with SAP or similar CMMS
* Exposure to lean/continuous improvement (5S, CI mindset)
* Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and get things done
Perks
* Competitive salary package + 10% Short Term Incentive (STI)
* A collaborative and supportive leadership culture
* Career development and progression opportunities across our national business
* On‐the‐job learning, training, and upskilling opportunities
* Up to 14 weeks paid parental leave
* 52 weeks superannuation paid during parental leave
* Access to our Employee Assistance Program
* Long‐term career stability with a respected Australian manufacturing leader
* Access to our FLARE benefit discounts
