Correctional Officer Role
A correctional officer plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, security, and humane treatment of prisoners within correctional centers.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and manage prisoners to ensure their safety and security.
* Implement appropriate security measures and conduct prisoner escorts.
* Respond to emergencies and support the management of correctional centers.
Training and Qualifications
* Participate in an 8-week off-the-job training course followed by 3 weeks of on-the-job training.
* Complete a 12-month training program to attain a nationally accredited certificate in correctional practice.
Eligibility and Requirements
* Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or Australian permanent residency.
* Meet character requirements and possess good communication and organizational skills.
* Hold a current First Aid Certificate and a Northern Territory 'C' class driver's license with manual vehicle driving capability.
