About the Role
The Financial Account works as a member of the centralised Finance Team coordinating and maintaining financial accounting requirements and transactions; integrity of the general ledger; financial analysis and financial reporting; and processes and procedures to support timely and accurate analysis reporting and interpretation of financial transactions and results. The role ensure financial performance is consistent with best practice in accordance with the Departments accounting policies and procedures and compliance with the Australian Accounting Standards policies and other relevant statutory requirements.
Duties
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting documentation including trial balances and reconciliations to provide reliable data for decision-making and statutory compliance.
- Maintain accurate general ledgers and prepare journal entries as needed.
- Analyse cash flow data to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports in compliance with accounting standards.
- Undertake regular quality assurance checks to ensure the integrity of the department financial reporting framework and processes.
- Perform variance analysis of income streams identifying trends and discrepancies for management.
- Undertake regular quality assurance checks to ensure the integrity of the departmental financial reporting framework and processes.
- Support the Manager to develop and maintain internal controls for financial systems to ensure integrity of financial data for management reporting purposes.
- Conduct wage analysis and prepare reconciliations for payroll expenses to ensure accurate reporting.
- Maintain and update lease schedules in accordance with IFRS 16 standards.
- Prepare and submit Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns in compliance with take regulations.

Skills And Experiences
COVID-19 Requirements
- Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a Covid 19 vaccine is encouraged.
- Degree qualification in Commerce Accounting Economics or Business or similar field or currently completing a degree qualification or extensive relevant practical experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of core financial management and budgeting frameworks systems and processes.
- Knowledge of contemporary financial accounting concepts and accounting standards especially with respect to financial accounting and reporting.
- Proficiency and accuracy in data entry and management to maintain data integrity and quality.
- Demonstrated ability to apply financial functions primarily utilising MS Excel payments systems and other related programs.
- Robust organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and perform under pressure while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Interpersonal skills including ability to liaise and consult at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
- CA / CPA or equivalent.
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft Navision.
- Experience and knowledge utilising MS Excel for large transactions.
Addition Requirements
- National Police Certificate.
- Current Working with Children Card (Blue Card) or eligible to apply.
- Drivers Licence.
- Evidence of Work Rights.
- Travel between work sites on a regular basis.
