Position Overview:
The V&V Lead Engineer is responsible for overseeing the Verification and Validation (V&V) activities throughout the development lifecycle for a defence program. The role will involve designing and executing comprehensive V&V plans, co‐ordinating a team of V&V engineers, and ensuring compliance with relevant military standards and regulations. Collaboration with program managers and technical teams will be critical to the success of this role.
Primary Duties:
* Strategy and Planning: V&V Lead Engineer is responsible for developing the overall V&V strategy and plans for the project. This involves understanding the requirements, setting objectives, and defining the testing scope.
* V&V Task management: V&V Lead executes, co‐ordinates, and prioritises V&V tasks for the project. This includes assigning tasks, providing guidance, and tracking V&V deliverables performance and team productivity. As well as generating appropriate ASDEFCON CDRLS (V&VP, VCRM, ATPROCs, ATRs) and negotiating approvals with the customer.
* V&V Stakeholder Interface: The V&V Lead Engineer interfaces with project managers, subcontractors and CoA representatives to understand their expectations, provide progress updates, and address any V&V‐related concerns.
* Test Strategy Development: V&V Lead works on defining the test approach, methodologies, and techniques to be employed during the V&V process. This includes selecting appropriate tools, frameworks, and technologies.
* V&V Risk Assessment: The V&V Lead Engineer identifies potential risks and issues related to the V&V activities and develops mitigation plans to address them effectively.
* Compliance to standard and Assurance: V&V Lead Engineer ensures a project activities follow internal V&V process/standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
* Test Execution: The V&V Lead Engineer oversee and reviews the testing activities, ensuring that they are conducted according to the defined strategies and plans.
* Continuous Improvement: They drive continuous improvement in the V&V process by analysing test results, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Note: The V&V Project Lead Engineer will be required to travel to subcontractor and test locations which may be within Victoria, Interstate and Internationally.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
* Qualifications in Verification and Validation.
* Meets Engineers Australia criteria for Chartered Professional Engineer.
Experience:
* Professional experience in V&V activities, desirable in the defence industry delivering complex large‐scale programs.
* Strong knowledge of V&V principles, methodologies, and best practices. Proficiency in system requirements analysis, test design, test execution, and test reporting.
* Knowledge with military standards and regulations related to vehicle development is desirable.
