Job Description
In this Associate Director leadership role in the Generation and Storage team, you will champion technical excellence – leading owners' engineering and design projects across Australia and New Zealand. You will provide technical leadership across utility‐scale wind, solar, battery (BESS), and hybrid projects from pre‐feasibility through construction and commissioning, working with clients to deliver high‐quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing technical leadership and solutions, including as Owner's Engineer (OE), local 'go‐to' for technical assurance, verification, and review.
* Supporting internal project delivery excellence across technical verification, design governance, risk management, and commercial requirements.
* Building client relationships as a trusted advisor, running workshops with client technical teams, external stakeholders and contractors.
* Contributing to business development processes, developing technical methodologies, resourcing estimates and providing schedule inputs into proposals and presentations.
* Supporting junior team members through planning and developing design and OE documentation, and providing quality reviews.
* Working with the local team, manager and ANZ‐wide Generation and Storage team to support technical learning, mentoring and development of others.
* Contributing technical expertise within AECOM's ANZ‐wide Generation and Storage team and global technical specialist network.
* Championing delivery excellence and governance by maintaining high standards of quality, safety, digital innovation and client satisfaction.
* Leading by example with collaboration and operational efficiency, implementing change initiatives and fostering continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* 15+ years of experience in renewable engineering, preferably with an electrical engineering background.
* Proven ability to manage projects from concept to delivery, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction.
* Registration on the National Engineering Register in Australia (e.g., RPEV or RPEQ) required; Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) preferred.
* Strong client relationship and interpersonal skills, able to build and maintain partnerships as a trusted advisor.
* Commercial judgement, understanding design/build cost, risk and schedule considerations.
* A passion for mentoring and developing the next generation of renewable engineering talent.
