Emergency Medicine Registrar Opportunity in a Busy DGH ED
This is a full-time position for an Emergency Medicine Registrar offering excellent experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. The department sees approximately 25,000 patients per year with a 25% admission rate, presenting a mix of high acuity medical cases, trauma, and pediatric emergencies.
The Consultant Emergency Physicians have extensive teaching experience and provide solid backup support for Registrars, making this an ideal place to increase experience and expand confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work a standard 40-hour week with additional administrative duties supported by on-call Consultants.
* Participate in the on-call rota covering nights and weekends, backed by an experienced Consultant.
* Provide assessment and management services for patients attending the ED under the direction of the involved Consultant.
* Regularly review patients in the wards and emergency department, ensuring timely and accurate care.
* Maintain precise letters to GPs and other healthcare providers.
* Attend multidisciplinary meetings and clinical review meetings to foster collaboration and improvement.
Requirements:
* A recognized basic medical qualification approved by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
* Hold or be eligible for General Registration with the Medical Council of NZ.
* A minimum of 2-3 years postgraduate experience, with previous EM experience highly desirable.
* Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as ability to work effectively under pressure.
