Mackerel Islands is a unique Western Australian tourism business offering on-island accommodation located amongst world class fishing sites and unique marine wildlife.
Located 100km north of Exmouth, and 20km offshore from Onslow along Western Australia's Pilbara coast.
We are seeking an experienced maintenance focused - motivated couple, ideally local to WA to manage the day-to-day operations on Thevenard Island.
The role is suited to physically fit applicants with a love of the outdoors, nature and marine environment.
The position oversees all operations at the Island including accommodation services, guest arrivals by own private vessel & light plane, including the island's back-of-house infrastructure, including Solar, WWTP and desalination plant.
This is a customer facing role, where presentation is important, with customer service and guest satisfaction being a high priority of the small team.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Overall responsibility and hands-on management of day-to-day business with heavy emphasis on maintenance.
Ensure a high level of maintenance of significant plant and equipment including machinery and vessels, airstrip, solar power station, desalination and waste water treatment plants.
Ensure cleanliness and presentation of guest accommodation and facilities.
Daily management of a small on-island team of staff including on-the-job training.
Leading by example to develop a cohesive team in a remote environment.
Manage the effective use of staff, suppliers, equipment and resources.
Provide consistently high levels of customer service.
Weekly routine reporting to the company CEO.
Skills and experience
Trade qualification and recreational marine background – RST as a minimum, coxswain qualification (highly regarded).
Hold or be able to obtain an Approved Managers Licence.
Hold a Western Australian drivers licence (HR highly regarded).
Strong computer skills, Proficient in Microsoft Office as a minimum.
Have a stable work history and excellent professional references.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
